Research-Based Scriptwriting

Background

Minds Eye Design is a YouTube channel showcasing innovative vehicles, unique homes, futuristic concepts, and creative engineering.

When I collaborated with them, the channel had roughly 150-200k subscribers and was expanding its library of narration-led, research-focused content.

Challenge

Minds Eye Design was producing frequent long-form YouTube videos, but the team didn’t have the capacity to research each item in depth or turn raw ideas into a fully polished script.

They usually only had a topic and a list of some items they wanted to feature, but not the time to dig into the details, verify information, or shape everything into a cohesive, engaging narrative. For example:

Essentially, the team needed a writer who could take minimal input and turn it into a complete, accurate, production-ready script.

Solution

To support the team’s fast production schedule, I took full ownership of the research and scriptwriting process for each video. My approach included:

  • Independent research, gathering credible details about each product, company, history, specifications, unique features, or relevant backstory.
  • Cross-checking information across multiple sources to avoid inaccuracies
  • Transforming raw details into engaging storytelling, making technical or obscure topics easy to understand for a broad YouTube audience.
  • Structuring each script in a smooth countdown format, with clear pacing, concise explanations, and transitions that kept viewers watching.
  • Writing in the established Minds Eye Design tone, ensuring the narration felt consistent with their existing videos and required minimal editing.
  • Delivering clean, production-ready scripts, organized so the editing team could easily match narration timing with footage.

Here’s an example of the type of work I’d deliver:

This workflow allowed the channel to publish polished, reliable content. Here’s a couple of examples of the final product:

Results

I was able to take a minimal brief and deliver high-quality, fully researched scripts that supported both production efficiency and audience engagement.

  • Delivered four YouTube scripts per week, requiring only minimal revisions
  • Videos achieved strong performance, averaging 150k views
  • My top-performing video achieved 1.3 million views
  • The channel continued its rapid growth, expanding from roughly 150-200k subscribers to nearly 1 million subscribers over time.

Nikki consistently produced clear, well-structured scripts that required almost no edits. I could always count on her.”
